November 17, 2009 - Hire-A-Youth Day

On November 17, the San Diego City Council proclaimed it to be "Hire-A-Youth Day" in San Diego. Councilmembers Tony Young and Todd Gloria presented the proclamation, which was signed by the all the councilmembers and Mayor Jerry Sanders, to the CNC, Southeastern Economic Development Corporation, San Diego Workforce Partnership, and Metro United Methodist Urban Ministry.

The CNC's Hire-A-Youth program placed 200 southeastern San Diego youth in jobs throughout the community and paid them well over a combined $230,000 in wages. The CNC is proud to invest in the future of our neighborhoods, and would like to thank its Hire-A-Youth partners as well for giving area youth the opportunity to not only gain a paycheck, but work readiness training and valuable work experience as well.
