The Broadway Heights Community Council Youth Leadership Team has been actively encouraging area youth to engage in community service projects throughout southeastern San Diego. This year the council has a new program that encourages youth to initiate an individual project that benefits his or her local community.
The BHCC Special Projects Program allows youth to develop, plan, and implement a program. Each month, one project will be recognized in the council's newsletter and the Youth Team's meeting and given an award.
In January, Justin Young was awarded $50 for his project to maintain the cleanliness of his street, Tiffin Avenue. In February, 8-year-old Kiara Sanders was awarded $50 for her efforts to beautify the Broadway Heights Community Welcome Sign. Click here to view the newsletter and details on Kiari's project.
Youth in Broadway Heights must complete the Project Participant form to be eligible. The form can be found here.
The CNC applauds the Broadway Heights Community Council and this effort to encourage youth involvement in Community Building.
